Russian state-controlled diamond miner ALROSA has appointed Evgeny Agureev Director of its sales arm, the United Selling Organisation (USO). Till his ALROSA appointment, he was a Vice President of Russia’s Sberbank.

Agureev is being tasked with developing rough diamonds sales, increasing their efficiency and transparency, and strengthening ties with long-term clients. He is also expected to prepare ALROSA for a new three-year contract period (2018-2020) with its long-term diamond processing clients.

Agureev has more than 15 years of experience in financial management in commercial banks. From 2009 to 2017, he held different positions in Sberbank. Prior to that, he worked at the Russian Standard Bank, MDM Bank, Raiffeisen Bank Austria, Absolut Bank, and Renaissance Credit Bank.

Thirty nine-year-old Agureev is a graduate of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, Faculty of Economics, specialising in accounting, analysis and audit, and holds a Master’s degree in Financial Management. In 2016, he completed the Executive Development Program of the London Business School and Sberbank Corporate University.

ALROSA’s United Selling Organisation is in charge of sorting, preliminary valuation, pre-sale preparation and sales of all ALROSA’s rough diamonds. Before Agureev’s appointment, ALROSA Vice President Yury Okoemov was acting director of the USO.
