The 813-carat Constellation Diamond, which was discovered in Botswana’s Karowe Mine by Canadian producer Lucara in 2015, is to be cut and polished in Israel and is expected to yield two D colour, internally flawless polished stones of 325 carats and 100 carats.

The Constellation Diamond was sold for $63 million at a private Sotheby’s auction last year to Dubai-based Nemesis International, making it the most expensive rough diamond sold in recent years. The 1,109-carat Lesedi la Rona rough diamond, found in the same mine by Lucara, sold earlier this year for $53 million.

Luxury jeweller de Grisogono has acquired the rough stone and will determine its final creation into polished diamonds.
